At Colorado Children First:

We advocate for children. We are dedicated to ensuring that laws, policies, and programs work to their benefit.

Help make the lives of Colorado children safer.

Alisha Coombe

One of the main reasons I started Colorado Children First was to give a voice to at-risk children who would otherwise not have a voice in the legal system. We strive to bring about a fundamental change in the way children are treated by institutions and governmental agencies.

Alisha Coombe practiced family and juvenile law in Colorado for 11 years, focusing her practice mainly on representing victims of domestic abuse and as a Guardian ad Litem representing abused or neglected children.  Alisha is dedicated to using her knowledge of the legal system to helping the underserved including writing a book to help parties who cannot afford an attorney represent themselves in their own case.  Alisha served on the Board of Directors at Gateway Domestic Violence Services, has been a regular volunteer on KUSA Channel 9 Law Line and serves on the Community Service Committee of the Arapahoe County Bar Association. Alisha has also served the community through pro bono legal services and continuously conducts donation drives to serve those assisted by Arapahoe County Department of Human Services.  Alisha previously served as Arapahoe Bar Pro Se Legal Aid Clinic Chair, the Continuing Legal Education Committee Chair with on the Judicial Nomination Commission of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association.  Before pursuing a career in law, Alisha served in the U.S. Army for four years.  Alisha formed Colorado Children First in an effort to cure deficiencies affecting children in the family court system.  As a mother, herself, Alisha is passionate about helping other parents protect their children.

Elizabeth Restauri

An entrepreneur at heart, Elizabeth Restauri is a Denver based event planner who launched her own business, Total Imagination Events 7 years ago and has owned and operated StudioWed Denver, a cooperative work space for wedding and event professionals in the Santa Fe Arts district for the last 5 years. Elizabeth and her husband Keith have been involved in freelance volunteering and community organization following an impactful experience helping victims of the 2011 Joplin, Missouri tornado.

After seeing the images of total devastation, they packed up their car, signed up with a local church organization and made the 15 hour trek to help provide aid to residents in need. Following that life changing experience, the couple have been long involved with Urban Peak, a local shelter for Denver’s homeless youth, as well as independent organization for social justice issues following the death of Aurora’s Elijah McClain.

With a passion for organization and planning and a bleeding heart for serving those in need, the Colorado Children First foundation spoke to Elizabeth after years of watching dear friends and their children go through painful and at times dangerous and unstable separation and divorce situations. Serving on the board for Colorado Children First and helping to better the situations of Colorado families in need is very much in line with Elizabeth’s goals for the future – making a difference by enhancing the opportunities of those within her community.
